Founded in 1998 by a group of local brass musicians, Thurrock Spectrum Brass is a true community brass band with training and development at it’s core and is now in its 26th year! Spectrum Brass is the youngest brass band in the area, but enjoys bring a real part of the local community.
Primarily a community band, the Band welcomes absolute beginners and learners aged from 8 to 80 (and beyond). Experienced players who want to play music for enjoyment without the hassle and pressure of regular contest-based practice are always welcomed. As we are not restricted by contesting numbers, we welcome all players on all brass and percussion instruments.
The Band’s repertoire is wide and varied, playing marches and typical brass band ‘novelty’ numbers, through to classical overtures, selections from shows and films to popular music of the day and days gone by. Our band aims to provide community music for the people of Thurrock and the surrounding areas, and we sincerely hope that our friendly, relaxed atmosphere will appeal to all.
The Band rehearses in the Tilbury Band HQ on Dock Road, Tilbury on a Friday evening under the baton of Director of Music Greg White from 1900hrs.
