About Us

Founded in 1998 by a group of local brass musicians, Thurrock Spectrum Brass is a true community brass band with training and development at it’s core.

Primarily a community band, the band welcomes absolute beginners and learners aged from 8 to 80 (and beyond).  Welcome experienced players who want to play music for enjoyment without the hassle and pressure of regular contest-based practice.  As we are not restricted by contesting numbers, we welcome all players on all brass and percussion instruments.

Our band aims to provide community music for the people of Thurrock and the surrounding areas, and we sincerely hope that our friendly, relaxed atmosphere will appeal to all.

The Band rehearses in the music department of The Hathaway Academy (formerly The Grays School Media Arts College) on Hathaway Road, Grays, with training bands rehearsing on a Monday evening under the directorship of experienced brass teacher and founding member Rosemary Mann and the senior band on a Friday evening under the baton of Gregory White.

If you’re interested in finding out more about Thurrock Spectrum Brass or would like to attend a rehearsal to see what we do, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our Secretary, Rosemary Mann, who will be more than happy to talk to you and give you any information.
